Stepping Out The Musical.

Karen Hauer is currently starring as the dance teacher Mavis in a major revival of Richard Harris’ comedy play Stepping Out. The production is running at Southend Theatres and other venues, marking her first major stage role where she heavily utilizes tap dancing.

Ms Pac-Man Bharatanatyam Fusion: Dancers in Yorkshire are creating a new performance combining classical Indian Bharatanatyam with the 1982 video game Ms Pac-Man, commissioned via the newly rebranded Bradford Arts Centre (formerly Kala Sangam).

• The Dance School Awards will be held on Sunday the 6th of September at the Shaftsbury theatre in London.
• ATG, the company that owns many UK theatres, has been taken over by global events company MARI.
• Unions have warned that freelance workers are unlikely to receive the money they are owed by Layered Reality, the company behind immersive shows such as ” Elvis Evolution” and “The War of the Worlds: The Immersive Experience”.
• Strictly announced the celebrity line-up for the upcoming series.
• Kai Widdrington announced his “My Revolution” tour for 2027.
• The Julia Rausing Sky Arts Bursaries was launched to support 20 dancemakers with funding, mentoring and professional development.
• On the opening night of “Cats” at the Regent’s Park Open Air theatre, Taziva-Faye Katsande took over the role of Grizabella at the last moment. Taziva-Faye had just completed her studies at Bird College.
• The 27th annual WhatsOnStage Awards will take place on the 28th of February 2027 at the London Palladium.
• Janette Manrara will star in “Affluenza” at the Riverside Studios in London in September. Janette will also be making her pantomime debut this Christmas in “Peter Pan” at the Marlowe theatre in Canterbury.
• The tour of “Burlesque The Musical” has been hit with further challenges as “technical requirements” forced it to postpone its opening performance in Stoke-On -Trent.
• “Cats” announced the cast for its UK tour which begins in Plymouth on the 6th of October. It is directed and choreographed by Drew McOnie and Carla Bertran is the dance captain.
• Casting has been announced for the West End transfer of “The Greatest Showman”. It will star Oliver Tompsett and Samantha Barks and open at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane from the spring of 2027.
• Jennifer Ellison will join the cast of “Mean Girls” for several of the tour venues.
• The upcoming tour of “Trainspotting The Musical” has been cancelled due to low ticket sales.
• “Six The Musical” will play its final performance on Broadway this winter.

• A musical adaptation of “Nanny McPhee”, written by Emma Thompson, will open in London in the summer of 2027. The show will have choreography by Ellen Kane.
• “Hairspray” will tour the UK in 2027. The show will star Neil Hurst and feature choreography by Drew McOnie and Shaquille Brush. It will open in Manchester on the 2nd of July 2027.
• “Jesus Christ Superstar” will tour in 2027 starring Sam Ryder, opening in Manchester on the 11th of February. The show has choreography by Drew McOnie.
• The musical adaptation of “Pretty Woman” will return for a new tour next year. The show will have choreography by Jerry Mitchell and open in Wimbledon on the 10th of March 2027.
• The English National Ballet has announced its season for 2026/7 titled “A Season To Feel More”.
• “Everybody’s Talking About Jamie” will return to the UK on a 10th anniversary tour. The show will open in Leeds on the 15th of January 2027. It has choreography by Kate Prince.
• A musical stage adaptation of the film “Coyote Ugly” will come to the West End in 2027. It will be directed and choreographed by Jerry Mitchell.
• “Just For One Day; The Live Aid Musical” is to embark on a UK tour in 2027. The show has choreography by Ebony Molina.
• A new revival of “Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street” has been confirmed for this year as part of the new season from the Birmingham Rep.
• A musical version of “10 Things I Hate About You” is officially in the works. It will have choreography by Christopher Wheeldon.
