The biggest headline news in the dance show world is the massive shake-up and official 2026 celebrity line-up reveal for BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, which features a completely new hosting trio and highly anticipated contestants.🕺

  • Strictly Come Dancing 2026 Major Headlines
    New Hosting Trio: Long-time hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman have been replaced by presenter Emma Willis, comedian Josh Widdicombe, and professional dancer Johannes Radebe
  • Shaun Wright-Phillips Joins: The former England and Manchester City football star is the latest celebrity confirmed to join the ballroom floor.
  • Paralympic Legend Cast: Britain’s most decorated Paralympian, Dame Sarah Storey (winner of 30 medals), has officially joined the 2026 cast.
  • Dani Dyer Returns: After a devastating ankle injury forced her to withdraw from the 2025 series before it even began, the Love Island star is back for a second chance.

Full Cast Reveals So Far: Other confirmed celebrities include EastEnders star Lacey Turner, singer Delta Goodrem, celebrity hairstylist Chris Appleton, Big Brother host Will Best, and actress Jaime Winstone.

Fresh Pro Dancers: Five new professional dancers are joining the roster: Maddie Ingoldsby (a former West End child star), Aleksandra Isaeva, Cristian Priori, Lethabo Monametsi, and Mark Karmalita.

Air Date Details: The pre-recorded pre-launch show will air on Saturday 19th September 2026, with live shows commencing the following week and the grand final scheduled for Saturday 19th December 2026.

Actress and comedian Ellie Taylor has been lined up as the new host of Strictly Come Dancing companion show, It Takes Two.
Departures: Previous co-hosts Janette Manrara and Fleur East have been axed from the spin-off as part of a massive production overhaul. The Reason: Show executives reportedly wanted a major revamp after deeming the existing series format “too boring”.
New Format: The programme is expected to move away from a traditional television studio set up and shift into a “visualised podcast” format when it returns.

Andrew Hurst MBE announced he will be stepping down as the Chief Executive of One Dance UK in Autumn 2026.

During his ten-year stint, Andrew Hurst led the organization through critical transformations, notably steering the sector through the COVID-19 pandemic—for which he received an MBE in 2021. Dr. Victor Fung, Chair of the Board of Trustees, highlighted that Hurst leaves the organisation on a strong and resilient footing as it moves into its second decade. Hurst expressed that marking the organization’s tenth anniversary makes it the ideal time to “pass the baton” to a new leader.

  • “Dirty Dancing” has announced the lead casting for its UK tour. It will star Joel Benjamin as Johnny and Charlie Varlet as Baby, with Ellie Fergusson as Penny and Danielle Cato as Vivian. The choreography is by Austin Wilkes. The show will open in Milton Keynes on the 25th of August.
  • “Magic Mike Live” has revealed the cast for its upcoming tour. It will star Kalon Badenhorst, Julie Yammanee and Hannah Cleeve. The show has choreography by Alison Faulk and Luke Broadlick and opens in Aylesbury on the 27th of August.
  • “Sylvia” begins its tour on the 24th of September at the Curve theatre in Leicester starring Beverley Knight. The dance captain is Claudia Floss and the show also stars Ebony Clarke, Collette Guitart and Leah Hill. The choreography is by Kate Prince.

  • “Hairspray” will tour the UK in 2027. The show will star Neil Hurst and feature choreography by Drew McOnie and Shaquille Brush. It will open in Manchester on the 2nd of July 2027.
  • “Jesus Christ Superstar” will tour in 2027 starring Sam Ryder, opening in Manchester on the 11th of February. The show has choreography by Drew McOnie.
  • The musical adaptation of “Pretty Woman” will return for a new tour next year. The show will have choreography by Jerry Mitchell and open in Wimbledon on the 10th of March 2027.
  • The English National Ballet has announced its season for 2026/7 titled “A Season To Feel More”.
  • “Everybody’s Talking About Jamie” will return to the UK on a 10th anniversary tour. The show will open in Leeds on the 15th of January 2027. It has choreography by Kate Prince.
  • A musical stage adaptation of the film “Coyote Ugly” will come to the West End in 2027. It will be directed and choreographed by Jerry Mitchell.
  • “Just For One Day; The Live Aid Musical” is to embark on a UK tour in 2027. The show has choreography by Ebony Molina.
  • “Heathers the Musical” will return to the UK from Summer 2026 for a new tour. The show will have choreography by Gary Lloyd.
  • A new production of “Fame” will run from the 28th of July until the 15th of August 2026 at the Theatre Royal Plymouth. It will have choreography by Tom Jackson Greaves.
  • “Dirty Dancing” will be touring the UK from the summer of 2026. The show will have choreography by Austin Wilkes and open in Milton Keynes on the 27th of August 2026.
  • A new revival of “Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street” has been confirmed for this year as part of the new season from the Birmingham Rep.
  • A musical version of “10 Things I Hate About You” is officially in the works. It will have choreography by Christopher Wheeldon.
